Internship in the field of UX Design and UX Consulting
My work at ]init[ was mainly concerned with projects that serve the digitalization of public services in Germany. Specifically, during my work I was involved in projects that were intended to map out proposed solutions for the Onlinezugangsgesetz (OZG). The Onlinezugangsgesetz states that all public services should be digitized by the end of 2022.
The OZG thus enables the comprehensive digitization of public administration in Germany. In total, more than 600 administrative services to be digitized have been identified. The services are categorized into subject areas such as “Family & Child”. The aim of implementation is to focus on the user perspective of citizens and companies rather than on official responsibilities.

About the project
The federal user account
Until now, anyone wishing to apply for a public service had to register for each new service. The process behind each new registration is time-consuming and therefore involves a greater hurdle for citizens.

With the federal user account, citizens should be able to apply for all services with just one account in the future.
The federal user account will serve as a central means of authentication for all digital and administrative services. With the one-time registration, users will be able to authenticate themselves for all digital administrative services, such as BAföG, without having to re-register for a service.
Process
Planing and tasks
From the start of the project, I was involved in the tasks of the project as part of a three-person UX team. This meant that I was involved in the project planning right from the start and was able to gain insights into the testing of an existing design. As the project progressed, I was responsible for organizing and carrying out the user tests. This included recruiting suitable users, creating an interview guide and conducting and evaluating the interviews on the current state and the resulting prototype for the target state. Based on the results of the initial user tests, we prepared and conducted a workshop within the core project team involving around 30 people. These included the ]init[ project team, customers, stakeholders and end users. During the workshop, further ideas and sketches were developed, on the basis of which the initial planning and the first prototype were created.
